Lever du Soleil is a series of artworks that delight in the exploration of colour. By using a set of arithmetic rules new and unanticipated colours and colour combinations emerge. Atmospheres range from the glowing light of autumn to the dazzling warmth of mid-summer.

The Rule - Letters representing the three primary and three secondary colours, Red (R), Orange (O), Yellow (Y), Green (G), Blue (B), Violet (V) are placed on a grid and sequenced according to an arithmetic rule.

The Outcome – New colours emerge where the three primary and three secondary colours overlap.

The Presentation – Using digital technology the overlapping layers can be given a transparent value, 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% to generate new colours.
